For the aspiring swimming pool owner pool myths are something that may be preventing you from transforming your back garden into a beautiful relaxing oasis. Therefore, we are here to separate fact from fiction and debunk some of the most common swimming pool myths. Let’s begin!
You only get to use your pool when the weather is good
Indeed, most people will get the most out of their pool when the weather is warmer, but thankfully these days swimming is not just isolated to the summer months. There are plenty of ways to extend your pool season by several months of the year—one great way to keep your pool toasty throughout the winter is with a pool heat pump. A heat pump absorbs the warmth in the air and then pressurises it into usable heat for your pool. Our clients have also invested in solar heaters, which harness power from the sun and then turn that energy into heating for your pool. All these heating devices make for very comfortable swims throughout the colder months of the year.
Swimming pools do not add value to a home when selling
We’re not too sure where this myth came from or who would believe that swimming pools do not add value to a home. Of course, they do!
Imagine two very similar houses for sale; they have the same number of bedrooms, layout, style, neighbourhood, etc., but one has a beautiful luxurious fibreglass pool its interior lined with sapphire Marble Tech in the back garden. Which house do you think would be higher in price?
When you install a high-quality permanent pool in your back garden, the value of your home will undoubtedly increase. While most people will build a pool for their own enjoyment, it’s nice to know that if the time ever comes to sell your home, a swimming pool will only add to your profits.
Chlorine is bad for your health
This is a rumour that we hear all the time at Freedom Pools, but it’s simply not true. There is chlorine in the tap water that you drink and use for cooking, and chlorine is added to pools in small amounts to protect you from germs and harmful bacteria. That said, while chlorine is undoubtedly beneficial in your pool, we don’t advise just drinking it out straight out of the container (everything in moderation!). If lots of chlorine really isn’t your thing, then luckily, we have a solution. Our eco-pure microbial inhibitor is now included in the gel coat finish of every one of our pools. This clever ingredient helps prevent algae growth and reduces up to 99% of common bacteria on your pool, so you can spend less time fiddling around with chemicals and more time enjoying your natural eco-friendly swimming pool!
Pool installations take ages
We can’t speak for anyone else, but at Freedom Pools, we have a two-day installation timeline for a standard swimming pool. That’s because our professional team handles everything from start to finish. We are in control of excavating the area, building the pool, setting up the plumbing, and filling it with water. All you need to do is sit back, relax, and get excited for your first swim in your very own pool!
